Ours is a 2.7, the larger engined car Porsche built for a single model year, which makes it one of the less common 944s around. The car

An 80s icon, the everyman's Porsche.

Porsche built the 944 from 1982 to 1991 as the car that put the marque within reach of a new generation of drivers. It used a front engine and a rear transaxle for near perfect balance, a galvanised body that resisted rust, and a water-cooled four developed in-house. Muscular arches, pop-up headlamps and telephone-dial alloys made it one of the definitive sports car shapes of the decade.

Ours is a 2.7, the larger engined version Porsche produced for a single model year at the end of the 1980s, sitting between the original 2.5 and the later 3.0 S2. That short production run makes it a relatively uncommon 944 today.

White over black, preserved and unmodified, it reads instantly as 1980s. On camera it needs no dressing to place a scene firmly in the era.

Where ours came from

Porsches run in the family.

One of the family's earlier red Porsche 944s from the 1980s, part of the Klassic Garage founder's story — One of the family's earlier 944s, back in the day.

Klassic Garage founder Jacob grew up around his dad's Porsche 944s, and this white car was the first classic he bought for himself. It became the very first vehicle in what is now the Klassic Garage fleet.

In the years since, the 944 has become one of the most sought after modern classics, prized for its 80s aesthetic and that "my first Porsche" appeal. It is exactly that pull that makes it such a popular choice for hire, most often for photoshoots and short films, and increasingly for weddings and events.
