1990s · Volkswagen Polo Harlequin · Four-colour panels · London based, nationwide
The Polo Harlequin is one of Volkswagen's most charming quirks, a Polo built from body panels in four different colours, red, yellow, blue and green, all mixed up so no two panels match. Instantly recognisable and impossible not to smile at, ours is a genuine Harlequin with all its playful character. It is a joyful classic picture vehicle for film and TV, events, PR and photoshoots across London and nationwide, and it can be dressed in-house to suit a production.
Driven only by our team, on set or moved into position for a static hire. You are welcome to sit in for photographs. Self drive is not offered unless separately agreed.
Owned by us, hired directly from us
Every vehicle in our fleet is wholly owned by Klassic Garage. We are not a broker or middleman for other people's vehicles. We take real pride in our own collection, and we know each vehicle's history, character and abilities inside out, knowledge that comes with every hire, whether it is working on set or out on display at an event.
One of the most joyful, recognisable classics on the road, for productions, events and shoots across London and nationwide.
Four colours, one car
The Harlequin's multi-colour panels are unforgettable on camera, a joyful hero or background car for comedies, adverts, kids' and music productions. Driven on set by our team and easily dressed in-house.
A stand-out draw at classic and quirky car shows, festivals and family days, where the four-colour bodywork pulls everyone in for a photo, as a driven feature or static display.
A brilliantly cheerful anchor for retro, youth, fashion and lifestyle brand activations, launches and press days, colourful straight out of the box.
Those famous mismatched panels bring instant vibrancy to editorial, fashion and product shoots, on location or as a static set piece.
In the mid 1990s Volkswagen did something wonderfully unexpected. To show off the build quality and interchangeability of the Polo's panels, it built the Harlequin, a car assembled from body parts in four different colours so that doors, wings and bonnet all clashed on purpose. What began as a marketing idea became an instant cult classic.
Relatively few were made, and today an original Harlequin is a genuinely rare and much-loved sight. It is impossible to look at without smiling, which is exactly why it works so well on screen and at events.
Ours is a real Harlequin, kept just as it should be. We hire it as it is, and our team can dress or subtly re-theme it in-house to suit a production.
