1996 · Ford Transit · Period NHS livery · Blue lights & sirens · London based, nationwide
A genuine ex-Essex Ambulance Trust emergency ambulance in period NHS livery, with working blue lights and sirens and a full period-correct medical fit-out inside. Instantly recognisable as a 1990s 999 vehicle, it is a go-to classic and vintage emergency ambulance for film and TV hire, photoshoots, events, PR and commemorations in London and across the country, and can be re-liveried in-house to any trust, era or fictional service.
Driven only by our team, on set or moved into position for static hire. You are welcome to sit in the vehicle for photography. Self drive is not offered unless separately agreed.
Owned by us, hired directly from us
Every vehicle in our fleet is wholly owned by Klassic Garage. We are not a broker or middleman for other people's vehicles. We take real pride in our own collection, and we know each vehicle's history, character and abilities inside out, knowledge that comes with every hire, whether it is working on set or on display.
When it's serious, it's there. A genuine 1990s 999 ambulance for productions, campaigns and occasions across London and nationwide.
A ready-made hero or background ambulance for medical dramas, period pieces, thrillers and adverts. Working blue lights and sirens, a fully kitted interior for scenes inside, and re-livery in-house to a real trust or a fictional service. Driven on set by our team.
A distinctive anchor for health campaigns, brand activations, product launches and corporate days that need a recognisable emergency vehicle, liveried to your brief and reset cleanly afterwards.
A familiar, welcome sight at charity fundraisers, NHS and air ambulance events, open days and commemorations, honouring the crews and the service it once ran with.
An authentic 90s ambulance for editorial, fashion and product photoshoots, plus retro and 999-themed events and parties, as a driven feature or a static centrepiece.
Through the 1980s and 1990s, the Ford Transit was the backbone of the British ambulance service, the box-body emergency ambulance that answered 999 calls the length of the country. Its shape, its blue beacons and that green-and-yellow livery are fixed in the national memory.
Ours is a 1996 example in period NHS livery, with working blue lights and sirens and a complete period-correct fit-out inside, from the stretcher and trolley to the seats, cabinets and kit, so scenes can be filmed in the back as convincingly as on the road.
It reads instantly as a 1990s emergency ambulance, and our graphics team can re-livery it in-house to any real trust, a different era or a fictional service, right down to re-plating it for a production.
This ambulance is a genuine ex-Essex Ambulance Trust emergency vehicle, from the days when each county ran its own service. The county trusts were disbanded in the early 2000s, when ambulances across England were brought together under regional NHS trusts.
Since joining our fleet it has been reunited with some of the very crew who once drove and worked in it, several of whom now serve with Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT). Seeing them back with their old vehicle is one of the reasons we look after it the way we do.
That real service history, and the people who lived it, is part of what you hire. On set or on display, it is the genuine article rather than a lookalike.
